1933 view of the north side of 9th Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues. No. 109 is on the left, with nos. 111 and 113 to the right, which were demolished in the early 1960's and replaced by the St. Mark apartment building at 115 East 9th. It's difficult to tell what business exists at 109 in this photo.

In 1911, a real estate deal combined the building at 59 Fourth Ave with two of the lots on the adjacent Lafayette Court behind the building. The building was apparently expanded and the unusually-shaped result can be seen here.

I was just talking about this a couple of days ago. 105 E 9 was the "Charm Coffee" company.
I love all your posts! I live on E. 10th, work at the current Pageant on E. 4th and am also on the vestry of St. Mark's Church so I love anything about the history of this area. You just made it much easier to learn. Thanks.
And here's another glimpse of East 9th Street from the summer of 1959. At the corner of East 9th and Third Avenue we see the Harmony Bar, where stellar Beat luminaries Kerouac and Ginsberg congregate. Note the construction of the new wing of Cooper Union to the south...
